The opportunity
The Finance & Banking Staff Writer role at Technology Advice is for our online publication Fit Small Business. This person creates high-quality, authoritative content for small businesses with a focus on the various forms of funding available to small business owners. This is an opportunity to make a career transition while still using the banking/ finance expertise you have earned over the years. You will make an impact that goes much further than just putting words on the page – potentially helping thousands of small business owners understand the basics of finance. This role works in collaboration with our Finance Section’s Content Producer and reports to our Senior Content Editor.

What you’ll do

Write publishable first drafts of 2-4 articles each week
Consistently meet deadlines with articles of the highest quality
Demonstrate expertise in the field of finance/lending
Learn how to ideate future articles in the field of expertise, working with the Content Producer on a content calendar
Learn how to do keyword research
Work with SEO/marketing and business development teams to connect the work of those teams with your content
Begin working on bigger content projects, offering expertise
Provide quotes to requests for subject matter expertise by external journalists in a timely manner
Create and utilize rubrics for bottom of the funnel content
Create copy that can be used in supplemental content elements such as infographics, quizzes, calculators, and pop-ups
Attend topic team meetings and partner demos
Create or review article synopses and creates outlines based on keyword research
Understand how each piece of content fits within the reader journey
Analyze performance data related to previously written content

Who you are

1-2 years minimum experience working in finance or lending (specifically someone who understands credit evaluation, underwriting,loan servicing, etc.)
Subject matter expertise in finance
Collaborative and enjoy working with multiple team members
Basic understanding of SEO
Self-motivated and able to manage your time to meet deadlines
Open to feedback, and strive to learn something new every day
Passionate about delivering the best answers to people’s questions
Comfortable working in a remote environment and on a team where things change quickly
Experience writing articles for an online business audience is preferred
Agile professional who excels in a fast-paced environment and thrives on continuously pivoting strategies to drive business needs forward
