Job Description

Unlock the power of data as a Senior Analyst, Demand Data Scientist. Your goal is to collaborate with the business to answer questions using data mining techniques. This includes pattern detection, graph analysis and statistical analysis. You will extract knowledge from a dataset involving data management, data preprocessing, model, and post-processing of found structure. We are looking for top talent in the Chicago, IL, or Battle Creek, MI areas but may be open to individuals in other remote US locations.

You will have exposure to an array of analytical tools including: artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, Bayesian regression, econometrics, and new and emerging methodologies. You will support senior data scientists in the design of data models to meet analytic, business intelligence, and reporting needs for the broader organization.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

Model Development – As a data scientist, you’ll work on creating and improving models. This includes forecasting models that predict future trends, location models that analyze data from different areas, and innovation models that study new ideas. You’ll also learn to use basic models like linear regression, decision trees, and KNN (k-nearest neighbors).
Task Management – This involves handling a variety of tasks, ranging from basic to medium complexity across different functional areas. You will also actively participate in project teams, contributing to the overall project goals and deliverables.
Analytical Solutions – Playing a key role in identifying potential analytical solutions, you will address business problems or enhance existing processes. This involves analyzing and understanding commonly used analytical applications / tools and recommending their use where appropriate.
Problem Solving – Providing support in modeling and framing business scenarios, you will have a significant impact on critical business processes and decisions. You will formulate alternative problem definitions and explore divergent options for resolution, thereby contributing to effective problem-solving strategies.
Information Seeking – You will conduct objective analysis of data and information, prioritizing them based on their source and relevance. This involves systematic monitoring of data and trends to ensure timely management reporting, which will be essential for informed decision-making.

We’re Looking for Someone With

Related technical/business experience including hands-on experience in developing analytical solutions, working with real-world data, and solving practical business problems.
Proficiency in data analysis, manipulation, and mining is crucial. Comfortable developing algorithms and applying machine learning/artificial intelligence techniques to extract insights from data and drive decision making.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or equivalent training / experience.
Strong analytical / conceptual skills. Ability to gather / analyze quantitative and qualitative data, and link business process metrics to key performance indicators (KPIs). An understanding of business context, identifying key metrics, and using them to drive business strategy.
Ability to effectively collaborate, communicate and present complex findings in a clear and compelling manner as well as influence stakeholders. This includes communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical team members. Must be able to effectively work with other functions (i.e. demand planning, customer fulfillment) integrating activities across departments, understanding different business functions, and working towards common goals.
Prior experience with data analysis and modeling tools (i.e. BW reporting, APO/SNP, CRM, or other SAP applications). Familiarity with other data science tools (i.e. Python, R, SQL) and machine learning libraries. Expertise in Microsoft Excel and data manipulation tools can be beneficial.
